Invest In The Future through Education

"It takes a village to raise a child" is an African proverb that means that an entire community of people must interact with children for them to experience and grow in a safe and healthy environment. Elnora Lynn Perry Shands (ELPS) spent her entire 30+ years as a public school teacher assisting underprivileged families with free tutoring resources in various subjects for their children, teenagers, and young adults. She understood that education is a very important factor for the youth.  She passed away on May 29, 2019; but her legacy will live on for many more years through this foundation/nonprofit and committed volunteers. We are also proud to continue the Annual Free BackPack program with school supplies for children of needy families at the beginning of each school year too.

Core Competencies

Children learn differently at various times in their lives and in many facets. Most learning theories fall into one or more approaches, which is concerned with learners responding to some form of encouraging stimulus such as tutoring.

Elementary
School (K-5)

Basic arithmetic and sometimes rudimentary algebra in mathematics, English proficiency (such as basic grammar, spelling, and vocabulary), and fundamentals of other subjects.

Middle
School (6-8)

At this time, pupils are given more independence, moving to different classrooms for different subjects, which includes math, social studies, science, and language arts. High school preparation is key.

High
School (9-12)

Literature and drama, coupled  - biology, chemistry,  physics,  - algebra + geometry and trigonometry coupled with a plethora of electives. College preparation starts here.

1st Year
College Freshman

Getting acclimated to college life, mastering prerequisites, and preparing for a students major's curriculum, can be a challenge, so access to assistance should not be a challenge.

Vocational
Tech

Construction, mechanics, technology, etc. whatever the students area of focus is, full support is needed to ensure they're educated and highly skilled. Adults need help too, and that's why we're here.
